★★★★★ If you’re a “Trekkie” in any way big or small,
Sun Jul 27 2025 Faith Walker 🥰This game is worth taking for a spin. If you have any interest in any of the shows, characters, history, anything that catches your interest about anything Star Trek, check it out. I read the reviews and I think they aren’t quite on par. It seems that people are looking for a big, huge, triple A, RPG - if you are, then you might not appreciate this game for what it is. Honestly, to me It looks great, it’s funny in points if you know anything about the Star Trek universe, you can speed up battle if you find it repetitive (I take it slow and savor the gameplay), it’s a lot of fun and I think old school turn based RPG gamers who enjoy a nice paced fun and simplistic (I don’t mean as in easy, just not too many unnecessary tactics to complicate the game spending more time learning controls instead of playing the game), can enjoy this. There’s nothing to lose, no additional DLC to buy to play - tif you want a game to chill with at your own pace and see your favorite Star Trek characters, and not be upset when you lose that extra person in your transport party that you knew in every episode wouldn’t come back since they weren’t a main, lol, give it a spin and you just might like it (a lot)! Not bad at all - 4.95 out of 5 stars. I took of .5 just for not having a better inventory system, in my opinion, but it doesn’t detract by any means. The makers did great and it is enjoyable in so many ways.
★★★★★ Fun, but needed more QA and UI design attention
Tue Jul 11 2023 TerranAlchemyGood points: good writing, decent turn-based combat system. Bad points: many minor bugs in the non-combat parts of the game, cumbersome non-combat UI designs (the store is especially annoying). Fortunately, virtually all the bugs I’ve seen are cosmetic UI glitches in information presentation, and have simple workarounds or can be ignored; the combat parts of the game are pretty solid, with just some annoying finickyness around targeting (on iPad, I’d hate to play on a smaller iPhone screen). I’ve only seen one or two cases where bugs impacted gameplay, in many hours of play. Combat can feel too tedious if you don’t turn up the speed setting; it’s fun to watch for a while, but 1x speed is just annoying after a while. The characters have a pretty interesting range of powers, though it’s pretty easy to play through the entire game with just the same crew, with one substitution- there’s definitely a “winning” crew for the missions. PVP teams from other players only have a few more common variants, though I’ve seen a few very different, and successful, teams. The game feels like it was originally designed for in-app purchases like the developer’s other ST: Timelines game (which is chock full of annoying upsell ads). Fortunately, as an Apple Arcade title, it has none of that, and I probably wouldn’t play it if it were a non-Arcade title.
★★★★★ What the H
Sat Sep 25 2021 LeMastertheMomentLots of monotony. Building characters, character levels, character traits by performing certain tasks. It’s a fairly simple concept - one that’s been beaten to an absolute pulp and then vaporized…well, you get the idea. Reason for the 3 stars: Every once in a while, the leveling is COMPLETELY off for the predicted combat difficulty. Sometimes in the player’s favor and sometimes in favor of the game. This is extremely frustrating given you can be 8 levels deep on a mission and lose one or two of your crew and have to start all over again - especially when the predicted difficulty is quoted as “Low”. So now you can’t finish, you’ve wasted tons of time with absolutely no clue as to why. There are also a few very simple player experience bugs that should have been fixed long ago like scrolling through characters is jumpy, upgrading equipment doesn’t appear to take affect until you back out and then choose that character again can you see it, etc.
Not to mention the PVP area is a complete joke, pitting player against player with very little evidence as to why even though one team out-powers the other by thousands, the less powerful team manages to completely obliterate the stronger team. No reason. No direction. A crap section of the game that I always put on autopilot and let the “crap” chips randomly fall where they may.
Still, the overall game is straight forward but the monotony overpowers any gainers and positive aspects of the game. I like it, but it’s just not enough for long term play.
★★★★★ Stagnant Gacha TNG Game
Thu Feb 22 2024 Ikwl94mdnisnofdliThe developers of this game seem to largely be knowledgable of TNG lore, less so of Discovery, and next to nothing about DS9 or Voyager. (There are characters from Enterprise, Picard and Strange New Worlds, but they don't figure into the storyline at all.) Worf looks like the TNG Worf, but sometimes acts like the DS9 Worf. He knows Odo but doesn't seem to know Martok at all. He knows Sisko, but Sisko doesn't seem to know him. I know the developers might wave their hands and say this is a time travel story, so we aren't necessarily getting the versions of these people from the prime universe, but it just feels like lazy research and writing. The character choices are sometimes weird. There are 4 versions of Picard, but no Lore or Wesley Crusher. We get Thadiun, the guy who turned out not to be Picard's son and only appeared in one episdoe of TNG, while there are other major characters (like Captain Archer) who aren't included.
This is designed to be a casino type gacha game like Raid: Shadow Legends or Summoners War. Of course, a gacha game doesn't work within the Apple Arcade business model. Gacha games require third-party payment methods from impatient people who don't want to work through games, so the developers took their game over to Steam and apparently stopped adding new content here. Unfortunately, Steam is only offering the newer version for play on Windows.
★★★★★ Too repetitious, buggy
Sun Mar 20 2022 Dad of a. 6yoThis game has an interesting premise, and it's cool to be able to build teams of Star Trek characters to compete in various events or to go though the missions. My difficulty with the game comes primarily from three aspects. First, the repetitive nature of the combat makes working through the missions a grind. The "multiple paths" thing would be interesting if there were multiple stories or outcomes. Gaining and building characters is a slog. Second, the design of combat is frustrating. You don't get to pick which character goes first, that's determined algorithmically by speed (and in a tie the computer player always goes first). The constraints on play make PVP battles unnecessarily repetitive. Third, there are a number of bugs in the game, such as the manner in which characters are flagged for upgrades, and interface issues, such as the horizontal scrolling required to use the store, that make the game more frustrating to use than it should be.
For me, the most interesting part of the game comes in the form of the PVP battles. So it's frustrating that the characters fight in an algorithmically defined order as opposed to one that would make more tactical sense, and that the attack and defense options are so limited. Granted, it does make for short battles.
★★★★★ Still buggy but fun
Tue Mar 08 2022 haus blendStrange that this game has lots of recent one, two, and three star reviews but still manages a 4.6 star rating. The numerous bugs are annoying but I’ve found a way to work around some of them. The bug that makes the upgrade button disappear for ranking up your equipment is actually there, just doesn’t display. Tap where the button should be and you’ll see. Wish they’d fix survival mode. When I first installed the game, I think I saw the screen where you could buy upgrade items and add crew. The screen I saw doesn’t appear anymore. Still surprisingly fun game. Star Trek fans and even those who aren’t will enjoy the unique character mannerisms and special abilities, some of which are hilarious. Kirk’s “invigorating speech” is classic, and Uhura’s “encourage” is fun to see over and over. If the developer gets serious about killing bugs, this game could be excellent. NOTE to devs: just because we don’t pay to play like with those annoying money grab games doesn’t mean we don’t pay. We pay a monthly apple arcade fee. You need to stop thinking that you’re wasting time supporting a free game.
★★★★★ PvP is fine; it’s Survival that’s broken
Sat Feb 19 2022 Drex2234Very fun game overall until you’ve beaten all the missions and gotten to endgame (which takes weeks at least). Once you get to endgame, there are only two worthwhile activities: PvP and Survival.
The problem these both have in common is that they are limited. You only get one PvP ticket per hour, and 10 Survival tickets per day. This clearly was designed as a microtransaction game, that the had them removed for Apple Arcade. With no way to buy more tickets for PvP or Survival, after you get to endgame it’s hard not to just feel done. Which is a shame because I had a blast in those first few weeks. This could easily be a better experience at endgame by simply doubling or tripling or quadrupling the amount of PvP & Survival you can do.
Though, Survival? The upgrade system has been broken for months, and they seem uninterested in fixing it. This means I can’t get any reserve units at all, so if I lose one crew member, I’m just toast at that point. If they would ever bother fixing that one issue, it would at least make endgame semi-tolerable.
PvP? Is fine besides not getting enough tickets. Ignore the whiners on here about it being broken. There’s NOTHING BROKEN about PvP. If you play a slow team against a fast team, yeah, you’re gonna get wiped out before you get to move sometimes. That’s the risk you take playing a slow team, people. So turn the tables! Pick a fast team! It’s not that freaking hard! Characters that are great in PvE (the missions) aren’t necessarily good in PvP and vice-versa. That’s what makes it an interesting mode for god sakes. And if you see yourself matched up against a nightmare speed-team (Sela, T’Pol, Kira are the main offenders), just hit the New Opponent button until you get an opponent that doesn’t have those folks. You get three re-draws per fight.
★★★★★ Solid game, with flawed non-essential components
Sun Aug 22 2021 Rob CThe core game is a fighting game, which works pretty well.
The primary add-on are missions, which are reasonably well written mini-stories that justify the fights, but are nice diversions.
But, the alliance (matching and team fighting) is broken. I’ve tried to join other, “private” teams, but not been added. This seems to be because the available teams are made up of people who have mostly stopped playing. There seems to be a split between public and private teams, and one needs to by approved to join a private team. I was never offered a public team to join, so I don’t know for certain.
Then, if I try to create my own team, nobody joins. So, I can’t get on a team, either by creating my own, nor by joining another. There are lots of possible solutions to this, and I hope the developer fixes this.
There are also small problems:
* The back arrow in the upper left of the screen works for everything but the “particles”. Why?
* Red and green dots don’t always work to alert you to things to address. They also don’t update when you spend out your chips, and can no longer enhance things. Why?
* Characters say things in the heat of battle. But, these are not timed to when the characters take action, and the writing could use a little work and a few additions. Why?
So - this is a fun game, which would benefit from fixing the small problems and reworking the alliance matching process.
Those few things would easily earn another star.
